Welcome to the first photo from the nighttime sky

Do you ever just sit and gaze into the night sky and wonder what is there? Wonder how far away these planets are? More than a hobby this is an education to the universe. This blog will feature photos captured and when possible descriptions of what is there. The telescope is set to the particular area I m interested in and over a set time, anywhere from minutes to hours, Seestar will snap 1,000s of photos before sending me the results. Fascinating!

From childhood we all have looked up to find the Big Dipper. We will be exploring this, one star at a time. I hope you will join me.

This is the first look.....

Alkaid (Eta Ursae Majoris) is a main sequence star located approximately 104 light years away in the constellation Ursa Major. It is the easternmost star of the Big Dipper and has a magnitude of 1.86, indicating it is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Alkaid is classified as a blue-white dwarf star with a spectral type of B3 V, making it one of the hottest stars in the universe ,

Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again. Don't forget to sign in and follow.
